Osteopathy is a manual therapy for ages that seeks to facilitate the improvement of body function.

Osteopathy
recognises the importance of the link between the structure of the
human body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on the body’s
skeleton and joint function along with the underlying muscles, soft
tissue and internal organs.
Osteopaths are
medically trained but are specialists in the musculoskeltal field.
Before any treatment can be given a full case-history is taken to
ensure that each patient will benefit from osteopathic treatment. A
variety of examinations may then be perfomed to ensure that the best
course of treatments are give to each patient.
Osteopaths
consider each person as an individual and utilise a highly developed
sense of touch to identify problem areas of the body.
Osteopath
can use massage, stretching and a variety of mobilising techniques as
well as manipulating joints. Treatments are specific to each patient,
working with the body to create the perfect conditions to facilitate
the healing process.
Treatments usually
consists of a combination of soft-tissue releasing techniques, and some
specific adjustments affecting joints and soft-tissues (muscles,
tendons and ligaments). Advice will also be given for re-habilitation
and self-help to ensure that the maximum benefit is obtained from each
consultation.
